Greenwich werkte vaak samen met haar man Jeff Barry en muziekproducer Phil Spector. Uit die samenwerking kwamen tientallen nummer 1-hits voort: "Be My Baby", en “Baby I love you” van The Ronettes, "Then He Kissed Me" en “Da Doo Ron Ron” van the Crystals, "Do Wah Diddy Diddy" van Manfred Mann, "Leader of the Pack" van the Shangri la’s, “I can hear music” van the Beach Boys en "River Deep, Mountain High" van Ike en Tina Turner.
“As a songwriter, it was much easier in the '60s, when there was an artist who just sang. There was a huge market and a need for the independent songwriter. As a matter of fact, when the British Invasion came here it greatly hurt. Here came all these self-contained groups that wrote their own material and played their own instruments, the whole thing. … It was great for those people that wrote their own stuff and recorded it, but the independent songwriter did suffer.”
